Joe will be leaving us at the end of this month. He is moving to CHCH where he will continue to work in the fitness industry as a trainer at flex fitness. He has been an amazing help here at Southern Peak CrossFit. He started as a member before becoming a coach here so he already knew a lot about us beforehand. From the day he started working here he has fitted right in. Always happy to help members after classes. I have often seen him stay late and help someone out with a skill or lift etc. He was always happy to lend a hand even outside of coaching hours like painting the inside of the gym, doing maintenance on equipment etc.
I first met Joe way back in 2015 at CrossFit North D where he was shadowing me for his PT course. I think that was one of his first CrossFit experiences. Fast forward a year to 2016 where he became a member at SPC when we were in Vogel st. He got right into CrossFit and he was improving heaps. In early 2017 I was looking for another coach and he was keen to take up the challenge. We threw him in the deep end as he had only been working with us a couple of weeks before I left to go overseas and Joe and Marcus had to run the place for the following 6 weeks:) and it worked out fantastic.
Even though it is sad to lose a coach it never outweighs the joy of seeing them move on to further their career whether it is starting their own gym or continue to grow their coaching skills somewhere else. I hope you have learnt a lot in your time at SPC and will continue to learn and grow as a trainer.
On a personal note I’m happy you are taking this step towards something different and I wish you all the luck in growing your PT business. Make sure you come in for a visit when you drive through town mate.
